“Damn the torpedoes!”
I just did a lil bit of digging around, and discovered that the expression ‘Damn the torpedoes’ was famously coined by Civil war hero David Glasgow Farragut, First admiral of the United States Navy, during the battle of Mobile Bay. The ‘torpedoes’ that he was referring to were not actually torpedoes but, in fact, actually tethered mines. Innnnnteresting. Kind of.
Oh, and Damn the Torpedoes also happens to be a totally amazing album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Click through the photo for a little surprise.
Civil war veterans(!) convention ribbon, $30.
